Los Angeles – 06/23/2026: On June 20, 2026, DATALAND, the world’s first museum for AI art, was opened in Los Angeles. Designed by artists Refik Anadol and Efsun Erkılıç, the museum is located in the Frank Gehry-designed building complex The Grand LA, in the heart of the Grand Avenue Cultural District.
DATALAND spans an area of 25,000 square feet and comprises five galleries that immerse visitors in a world of AI-generated art. The current opening exhibition titled “Machine Dreams: Rainforest” runs through January 31, 2027. It is based on the Large Nature Model, an AI system trained on ethically collected environmental data. The exhibition offers a machine-generated sensory experience of the Amazon rainforest.
The museum’s architecture is an integral part of the overall experience. Using advanced technology, walls, ceilings, and floors become active elements of the exhibition. Visitors can interact with artworks and architecture in real time through the intelligent Data.Link system, creating a dynamic and constantly evolving experience.
A special highlight is the Infinity Room, a three-dimensional LED cube that brings Anadol’s vision—a floating glass hummingbird—to life. Equally impressive is the Data Pavilion, an immersive architectural canvas animated by 84 4K Epson projectors. In the Latent Gallery, visitors can dive into the datasets of the Large Nature Model, paint with a “thinking brush,” and taste edible data sculptures. The journey ends in The Sanctuary, where a sacred healing song of the Yawanawá people is played and the scent of the “Lost Flower,” a moonflower that blooms only at night in the Amazon, fills the space.
DATALAND sets new standards for the presentation and exploration of AI art. The museum promotes creative collaboration between humans and machines and invites visitors to redefine the boundaries of art in the digital age. Visitors experience how technology and creativity merge in unprecedented ways.
Tickets for the exhibition are available on DATALAND’s official website. The “Machine Dreams: Rainforest” exhibition is open from June 20, 2026, to January 31, 2027, offering a visionary look at the future of art.
With DATALAND, Los Angeles is at the forefront of a new era in art presentation. The museum not only offers a unique art experience but also a place where art, technology, and nature come together in interactive dialogue. These innovations mark a significant step in the development of contemporary art and demonstrate how AI can open new forms of expression and perception.
