Lodeve: Where France’s rare carpet-making art lives on

At the state-run Savonnerie manufactory in Lodeve, hand-knotted velvet carpets are produced for ministries, embassies and other public buildings. The workshop preserves a centuries-old craft while also realizing designs by contemporary artists.
