Paris – 20.06.2026: On Saturday, June 20, 2026, an incident occurred involving an Ouigo high-speed train traveling from Paris-Montparnasse to Toulouse. The train came to a halt about one kilometer before Toulouse-Matabiau station due to a power outage. Passengers, who were in air-conditioned cars, had to walk the final section in outside temperatures approaching 35 degrees Celsius.

The train had departed Paris-Montparnasse on the morning of June 20, 2026, and was scheduled to arrive in Toulouse around 1:17 p.m. Shortly before reaching its destination, the power failure occurred, bringing the train to a standstill. Passengers, including pregnant women and individuals with limited mobility, were forced to leave the train and walk the last kilometer to the station.

This incident took place during a heatwave that subjected France to high temperatures. Previously, the SNCF had cancelled 71 Intercités trains, including 52 routes to Toulouse, due to extreme heat in order to prevent breakdowns caused by air conditioning failures.

Passengers on the affected Ouigo train expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of communication and missing services during the incident. Some reported a 25-minute departure delay, followed by a 45-minute stop and an additional indefinite halt ten minutes before arriving in Toulouse.

The SNCF has investigated the incident and assured that measures are being implemented to prevent such events in the future. Customers affected by this incident are encouraged to contact customer service to discuss compensation.

This event raises questions about the reliability and customer service of Ouigo, especially during extreme weather conditions. The SNCF is under pressure to find solutions to avoid such occurrences and restore travelers’ trust.

For further information and current updates, it is advisable to consult the official Ouigo website.
