Strike Announcement at Stellantis Mulhouse Due to Extreme Heat Conditions

The CGT union has announced a strike at the Stellantis factory in Mulhouse to highlight the extreme working conditions caused by high temperatures.

Mulhouse – 06/23/2026: The Confédération Générale du Travail (CGT) union has announced a strike at the Stellantis factory in Mulhouse to highlight the extreme working conditions caused by high temperatures. In some factory halls, temperatures reach up to 38 to 40 degrees Celsius, endangering the health of the workers. The CGT therefore demands an earlier end to shift work for both the early and late shifts.

The high temperatures in the Stellantis Mulhouse factory halls have caused concern among employees in recent days. A union representative warned that temperatures in some areas reach up to 40 degrees Celsius, which considerably complicates working conditions. The CGT therefore calls for an adjustment of working hours to protect the health of the workers.

Stellantis has previously invested in the Mulhouse site. In June 2026, an investment package of over one billion euros was announced, of which approximately 400 million euros is to flow into the production of three new Peugeot models in Mulhouse. This investment underscores the importance of the site for the automobile manufacturer.

The CGT emphasizes that the current working conditions not only threaten the health of the workers but can also affect the quality of production. The union therefore calls for urgent measures from Stellantis to improve working conditions and ensure employee safety.

The announced strike action is part of a series of CGT actions carried out in recent months across various sectors to draw attention to grievances and inadequate working conditions. The union stresses the necessity to continuously monitor and adjust working conditions as needed to protect the health and safety of workers.

The situation in Mulhouse reflects a larger problem occurring in many industrial facilities during heatwaves. High temperatures can not only impair productivity but also lead to health problems among employees. It is therefore important that companies like Stellantis take proactive measures to avoid such conditions and ensure the safety of their staff.

The CGT has announced that the strike actions will continue until a satisfactory solution is found. It calls on Stellantis to adjust working hours and ensure that working conditions comply with health standards. The union emphasizes that the safety and well-being of the workers must be the highest priority.

The situation in Mulhouse remains tense, and it remains to be seen how Stellantis will respond to the CGT’s demands. It is hoped that a swift and effective solution will be found to improve working conditions and avoid further strike actions.
